What is Hjorted LAB?

Hjorted LAB is an experimental format and platform for the showcase of new, unusual, experimental and potentially unfinished works in connection with the main events of Hjorted Art and Music Festival’s 2026 programme.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for three up-and-coming artists within any arts discipline that want to:

  • Try out a new idea

  • Explore a new format for their performance/work

  • Showcase pre-existing works

  • Showcase works-in-progress in front of an audience

We are particularly keen on unusual proposals and proposals relating to this year’s festival theme which is Rituals. Proposed ideas do not have to be finished and can be presented as a work-in-progress.

What do we offer?

  • A venue to perform in, this can also be outdoors if it relates to your proposal

  • A Festival Pass

  • The possibility to network and meet other like minded artists

  • Accommodation in a shared cabin

  • Travel expenses up to 170 euro between your country of residence and Stockholm. Trains and sustainable means will be prioritised.

  • Bus transport between Stockholm and Ankarsrum

  • Video and sound documentation of your work

  • Tech support. A professional PA system, mics, stands and other basic tech will be available. We may be able to accommodate other needs as well.

  • A number of different stage lights.

How are the candidates chosen?

Each proposal is seen/heard by at least two people with professional experience from the arts and music industry.

Proposals are judged on the following aspects:
1. Experimental proposals with strong potential for development

2. How it relates to the theme of Rituals

3. Geographical spread

4. Diversity in both proposed ideas and people
